I have lighting in my genes! My father, David Ashton, started WA's first lighting company (Ashton Admor, formerly Ashton Stage Lighting) in the 1970's, and together The Ashton Family has been lighting up shows, weddings and events in our awesome state for over 50 years and I'm incredibly proud to have become a professional Lighting Designer, Drapes Manufacturer and to be the Owner / Manager of Southern Light Events.
DAVID ASHTON
My passion has always been in solving technical problems that have been unsolved by others, like the understanding of triplen harmonics in dimmers in 1987, before it was understood. Also the understanding of gain structure in PA systems, which caused many systems to under-perform, adding a host of complex faults in school PA's. In most cases these were caused over decades of additions, by electricians with no understanding of the work, or problem solving in general.

Living and working the audio world in WA’s southwest region has given me great insight into the direction of all types of events in and around ‘my place’. It’s a privilege to evolve with the local entertainment and tourism industry …our region grows with much new vision, amongst the old stalwarts. Making any space look, and sound, amazing is part of the magic. At Southern Light Events we never oversell gear you don’t need ~ we just bring the party! People meeting people. That’s what we do.
